MCNA Dental, a leading national dental benefits company for Medicaid and CHIP programs, donated dental kits, backpacks, and essential health supplies to hundreds of Hurricane Harvey victims during a community health fair Saturday at the Alief YMCA in Houston. Many MCNA Dental employees also volunteered their time at the event to operate donation stations for those in need. They distributed dental health materials as well as clothing, toys, and shoes collected by UPS.
"Our employees have demonstrated the core values of outreach and service that make up the heart of MCNA Dental's dedication to our communities. We are proud to be able to serve families and children that were displaced by the hurricane," Dr. Jeffrey Feingold, Chairman and CEO of MCNA Dental. "We thank those who organized this important event and the rest of our community partners who joined MCNA Dental to help."
Health fair participants included the Alief Independent School District, University of Texas Schools of Public Health, Dentistry and Nursing, the American Red Cross, Texas Star Alliance, UPS and FEMA. Over 200 free dental screenings and flu shots were provided by the UTHealth School of Dentistry and UT physicians.
MCNA Insurance Company is based in San Antonio with more than 300 Texas employees. The company provides dental benefits to nearly 1.5 million children in the Texas Medicaid and CHIP programs, and serves more than 4 million members nationwide.
To date, MCNA's contributions to immediate relief and rebuilding efforts in Houston include more than $600,000 in donations and supplies to the following organizations: Rebuild Texas Fund, American Red Cross Texas Gulf Coast, Texas Dental Association Relief Grant, Corpus Christi Salvation Army, and San Antonio Food Bank.

Dr. Jeffrey Feingold, Chairman and CEO of MCNA Dental, announced today that MCNA Dental stands with Governor Greg Abbott and the citizens of the Great State of Texas during this time of relief and recovery. In response to the destruction caused by Hurricane Harvey, MCNA Dental made a $500,000 donation to the Rebuild Texas Fund.
"We are Texans and we are committed to helping our communities during this time of crisis and contributing to the long-term rebuilding efforts. We commend Governor Abbott for his guidance and leadership during this disaster, and encourage everyone to support his call to raise $100 million to help Texas on its road to recovery," said Dr. Feingold, Chairman and CEO of MCNA.
MCNA Insurance Company is based in San Antonio with over 300 Texas employees. The company provides dental benefits to nearly 1.5 million children in the Texas Medicaid and CHIP programs, and serves over 4 million members nationwide. It has established multiple channels of giving with our existing community partners to provide immediate funds and basic necessities directly to individuals and network dentists in the most heavily impacted areas of Texas.
"In addition to our donation to the Rebuild Texas Fund, we wanted to make sure that people displaced by Hurricane Harvey had essential supplies and access to oral hygiene products such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, and dental floss," said Dr. Feingold. "Our donations of funds and supplies through our partner organizations are helping restore hope to the thousands of people impacted by this hurricane."
To date, MCNA's contributions to immediate relief and rebuilding efforts include:
- $500,000 to the Rebuild Texas Fund, which is working to raise $100 million to assist with recovery.
- $50,000 and dental kits to the American Red Cross Texas Gulf Coast for distribution to storm victims.
- $25,000 to the Texas Dental Association Relief Grant to help dental providers rebuild their practices.
- $5,000 in food and supplies to the Corpus Christi Salvation Army and to the San Antonio Food Bank, which are feeding thousands of victims and relief workers.
- 15,000 dental kits to be distributed to those in need by the University of Texas at Houston School of Dentistry.
MCNA Dental's donations have inspired our employees to personally donate money and supplies to help Texans in need, and to volunteer their time outside of work with ongoing Red Cross relief efforts. MCNA Dental announced today that it was reaccredited by NCQA in Credentialing. This is the fourth time that NCQA has accredited MCNA Dental's provider credentialing functions since 2011. This important distinction signifies the company's ongoing commitment to meeting and exceeding the highest operational standards.

Maintaining our Credentialing Accreditation for seven years against NCQA's increasingly challenging criteria is evidence of MCNA Dental's ongoing commitment to superior service and provider satisfaction," said Mayre Herring Thompson, Chief Compliance Officer of MCNA Dental.
NCQA is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to improving health care quality. NCQA accredits and certifies a wide range of health care organizations. It also recognizes clinicians and practices in key areas of performance. MCNA Dental today announced that it has entered into a statewide contract with the Arkansas Department of Human Services as a dental benefits manager for the Arkansas Medicaid and CHIP program. MCNA Dental leverages more than 20 years of managed care experience to administer dental benefits for over 4 million members in Texas, Florida, Iowa, Idaho, and Louisiana, with operations in Nebraska scheduled to begin later this year. The company will be one of two managed dental care organizations serving approximately 900,000 Arkansas children and adults when the program begins on January 1, 2018.

MCNA Dental announced today that it has entered into a contract with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services' Division of Medicaid and Long-Term Care (MLTC) as the sole dental benefits manager for its Nebraska Medicaid dental program. MCNA Dental currently administers dental benefits for millions of members in Texas, Florida, Iowa, Idaho, and Louisiana using its proven managed dental care model. The company will begin serving approximately 250,000 children and adults enrolled in the program statewide on October 1, 2017.
